Reflections on 2020 and what’s ahead for Pinkaloo

WOW. It doesn’t need to be said again what a crazy year 2020. Fortunately, people felt deep in their souls that their communities were hurting. And they were moved to give. Just over the last two weeks, the rise of the Barstool Fund has shown what we saw all year. People want to give locally, people want to be a part of something bigger, and people want to know their money is directly supporting people in need.

Whether it was COVID relief funds, social justice related causes, small business support funds, or food shelters, our communities stepped up. We saw people donate their stimulus checks the moment they received it. We saw people increase the payroll deductions even in the face of economic and job uncertainty.

Between COVID, a transition to many employees working from home, and companies looking to give back where they can, Pinkaloo supported clients and users in ways that I couldn’t have imagined a year ago. We helped companies of all sizes launch new workplace giving programs in as short as two weeks, 50% faster than our previous implementations. Pinkaloo powered companies sending virtual charitable gifts instead of branded swag at the end of the year. I’m proud that we helped donors, foundations, and companies adapt and change how they give in the span of weeks.

All of that drove a frenetic year for us at Pinkaloo. Giving was up 8x over 2019.

And of course we were heads down building new capabilities into our software and building new partnerships to continue on our mission of making charitable giving as easy as possible.

  • We launched our Grant Automation solution to allow us and other Grantmakers to distribute their grants faster and more efficiently, through both ACH and automated check printing.

  • We signed our first DAF Sponsors and Administrators to use our Charity Data to power their Charity Verification and Charity Due Diligence.

  • We launched our Charity Portal for charities to more efficiently get their funds and their donor data.

We’re more than excited to continue executing on our vision in 2021. We will see many new retail banking charitable giving programs and I’m honored and excited for Pinkaloo to be powering them. We will bring our AkoyaGO Partnership to life in the coming months. We will see more clients building on our APIs and developing their own giving apps, solutions, and experiences.

If you’re thinking about adding a charitable giving program or wondering how you and your clients can benefit from Pinkaloo’s software reach out to us. We power workplace giving programs, giving programs at retail banks, and Community Foundations and DAF sponsors leverage our software to bring more automation to their existing programs.
